The June 2 nd Ballot Measure, Authorizing the Proposed
Sharp HealthCare & Tri-City Medical Center Partnership
To significantly improve LOCAL ACCESS to high-quality emergency medical care and comprehensive health care services through a new partnership in North County, the Tri-City Healthcare District Board of Directors took action on February 5, 2026 to call for an election this June.
Measure H seeks voter authorization for Tri-City Healthcare District and Sharp HealthCare to enter into a 30-year partnership and lease agreement, allowing Sharp to provide high-quality health care services at Tri-City Medical Center. Voter authorization is required for this partnership to take effect.
Measure H is NOT a tax and WON’T raise local taxes. It simply seeks voter authorization to allow Sharp to provide high-quality health care services at Tri-City Medical Center.
Since 1961, residents of Oceanside, Carlsbad, Vista and nearby areas have relied on Tri-City Medical Center for life-saving, emergency medical and comprehensive health care services. However, recent health care industry changes have forced hospitals to adapt. Joining this trend, the Tri-City Healthcare District Board of Directors voted unanimously last December to pursue a partnership with Sharp HealthCare. They knew that a world-class not-for-profit provider with significant health care expertise could operate Tri-City Medical Center better and more efficiently than local government.
Accordingly and WITHOUT raising local taxes, passage of Measure H will:
- Facilitate replacement of aging equipment with the latest advanced medical technologies
- Enable Sharp to invest $100+ Million to repair and upgrade Tri-City Medical Center facilities
- Increase the quality and variety of health care treatments offered locally in North County
- Restore previously eliminated health care services like maternity care
- Attract and retain high-quality Tri-City Medical Center doctors, nurses and medical specialists
This partnership makes good financial sense. Sharp has been a great partner to Sharp Grossmont Hospital and others locally, investing more than $1 billion to repair aging facilities and improve local access to emergency and specialty medical services.
Tri-City Medical Center will continue to remain a community hospital, dedicated to serving North County residents and their communities.
Registered voters within the Tri-City Healthcare District will determine the future when they cast their votes on Measure H. Election Day is June 2, 2026. A simple majority (50% + 1 vote) is required for passage.
