WHY WE NEED MEASURE H:

The Ballot Argument In Favor of Measure H

VOTE YES on Measure H to significantly improve LOCAL ACCESS to high-quality emergency medical care in North County. Measure H authorizes Tri-City Healthcare District and Sharp HealthCare to enter into a 30-year partnership and lease agreement WITHOUT raising local taxes. Your YES VOTE is needed to establish this vital health care partnership benefiting our North County communities.

Since 1961, residents of Oceanside, Carlsbad, Vista and nearby areas have relied on Tri-City Medical Center for life-saving, emergency medical and comprehensive health care services. However, recent health care industry changes have forced hospitals to adapt. Joining this trend, the Tri-City Healthcare District Board of Directors voted unanimously last December to pursue a partnership with Sharp HealthCare. They knew that a world-class not-for-profit provider with significant health care expertise could operate Tri-City Medical Center better and more efficiently than local government.

Accordingly and WITHOUT raising your taxes, Measure H will:

• Facilitate replacement of aging equipment with the latest advanced medical technologies
• Enable Sharp to invest $100+ million to repair and upgrade Tri-City Medical Center facilities
• Increase the quality and variety of health care treatments offered locally in North County
• Restore previously eliminated health care services like maternity care
• Attract and retain high-quality Tri-City Medical Center doctors, nurses and medical specialists

This partnership makes good financial sense for our community. Sharp has been a great partner to Sharp Grossmont Hospital and others locally, investing more than $1 billion to repair aging facilities and improve local access to emergency and specialty medical services.

With passage of Measure H, Tri-City Medical Center will still remain a community hospital, dedicated to serving North County. VOTING YES simply allows Sharp to provide high-quality health care services at Tri-City Medical Center.

Remember: local doctors, nurses, EMTs, firefighters, former patients, senior citizens, veterans, and civic leaders are SAYING YES to support Tri-City Medical Center.
